Selenity (formerly Software Europe) has partnered with Licence Check to offer checking services through Selenity’s Expenses. Selenity’s customers can now take advantage of the safe, secure, and reliable cloud solution to record, store and verify driving licence information of employees undertaking work-related journeys.

Employers across the country have a legal duty of care to protect their employees from the risk of foreseeable injury, which includes when employees make work-related journeys. Checking employees have a valid driving licence, correct class of car insurance, including for business use, and ensuring the vehicle is legal and roadworthy are all vital tasks all employers are legally obliged to do.

“Driving is considered to be one of the most dangerous activities for employees to undertake for work purposes and, worryingly, many UK businesses don’t realise they could be at risk of legal action if they haven’t checked an employee is safe and legally allowed to drive for work purposes,” comments Deborah Saunby, Chief Sales Officer at Selenity. “Ensuring employees remain safe is a key task for line managers through to the heads of business so we’re really pleased to be working with Licence Check to help improve the safety of grey fleet drivers.”

The Licence Check service enables organisations to actively manage driving licence eligibility ensuring driver risk is reduced and compliancy assured. The service provided by Licence Check through Selenity’s Expenses cloud technology includes:

  • Checking drivers have the correct category entitlement and eligibility to drive
  • Automatically scheduled rechecks
  • 3 year employee consent period
  • Dynamic monitoring for ‘at risk’ drivers
  • Comprehensive notifications, warning and detailed reporting

“It’s still quite surprising the number of organisations that don’t fully understand the implications of failing to check all the relevant credentials needed to confirm if employees are eligible to drive,” comments Richard Brown, Managing Director of Licence Check. “We still need to be educating all businesses that approve work related journeys of their legal obligations, so it’s great to be working with Selenity and providing licence checking services to their private and public sector customers.”

Selenity’s Expenses cloud solution is a highly configurable, fully-mobilised employee expenses solution designed to reduce time and costs and increase productivity amongst payroll and finance teams. The online expenses software is tailored to fit around an organisation’s existing expenses policy and is designed to maximise expense compliance through intuitive policy and HMRC validation features.
