In A League Of Their Own

On a sunny Friday afternoon in August, Selenity (formerly Software Europe) had some special guests visit their office. Paul Farman and Terry Hawkridge from Lincoln City Football Club came by to help donate £1000 to the Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Services (LEBBS) on behalf of Selenity and the University of Lincoln.

A total of £2000 was raised through a charity football match played at Sincil Bank between colleagues at Selenity and staff at the University of Lincoln in April. Half of the total was used to buy a bundle of toys and donated to the Children's Rainforest Ward at Lincoln County Hospital, the other half donated to LEBBS.

This year, Selenity adopted LEBBS as their charity of the year to support the amazing work they do. Made up entirely of volunteers, they provide an out of hours transport service to NHS hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout Lincolnshire. They transport urgent medical items such as blood, pathology & microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products and donor breast milk. This service is provided completely free of charge.

Paul Bagwell, Chair/Fleet Manager at LEBBS commented, "On behalf of LEBBS I would like to whole-heartedly thank Selenity for selecting us as their charity of the year. The £1000 donated today is enough to keep one of our fleet motorcycles on the road for an entire 12 month period. This means it can continue its task of covering around 5000 miles per year, transporting urgent medical items such as blood, pathology and microbiology specimens, medical notes, pharmaceutical products and donor breast milk. This ensures LEBBS can continue to support our local NHS Trusts and play our part in saving lives."

Neil Everatt, CEO at Selenity added "The charity football match between colleagues and our friends at the University of Lincoln at Sincil Bank was a huge success and we're delighted to be able to donate £1000 to LEBBS. Working with the community is at the heart of Selenity and the work that the volunteers at LEBBS do is truly inspiring and we'll continue our fundraising efforts to support this amazing cause.
