Diving into Marketing

We had the pleasure of welcoming Chloe Maher to Team Marketing for two weeks this summer during her break from studying Fashion Marketing and Branding at Nottingham Trent University. Chloe already had a great understanding and working knowledge of marketing having already completed an internship within a marketing agency, but wanted to expand her experience within an inhouse marketing team. Here’s what Chloe made of her two weeks at Selenity.

It’s come to the end of my 2 weeks here at Selenity and I cannot believe how fast time has flown.

Diving into the industry whilst at University can seem daunting, but I can honestly say that the guys at Selenity made the process so much easier by welcoming me with open arms. I was introduced to the company on my first day by Sophie (the Head of HR) where I learned about the brand, its products and the importance of its values. I had a tour around the building and got introduced to every single employee who were all incredibly welcoming. I couldn’t wait to get started.

I was then introduced to the marketing team who were all were super excited to have me on board. I got stuck in with my first team sync, where the team discuss what they have lined up for the week including events, PR, messaging and campaigns that they’re focusing on which was very insightful. The team then explained to me their journey of how they got to where they are today, which gave me so much inspiration and confidence to apply for jobs in the real world.

I was brand new to corporate B2B marketing, so I knew I had a lot to learn. However, I can now say I fully understand the process of prospecting and developing appropriate content to suit different audiences. Chrissy (the Marketing Manager) spent so much time with me going through the importance of how to approach tasks, evaluating the process and then gave me really useful feedback, which has expanded my knowledge in my tool box of marketing tricks.

I felt as though I was making a real impact and that my opinion, even that of an intern, was really valuable to the team.

I can’t thank Chrissy, Chloe, Lewis, Jo and the team at Selenity enough for giving me this amazing opportunity to learn from people who have so much talent and expertise in what they do. I will never forget the skills and insights that I have learned during my internship and would recommend the company to anyone thinking about interning in the marketing or technology industry.
