Our Corporate Social Responsibility

What it means to us

"Operating a business stretches a lot further than bringing a team of great people together under one place to create something.  A business can bring much more to the community, things way beyond employment. Selenity integrated into the local community a long time before it was called Corporate Social Responsibility. I don’t think it had a heading, it just meant recycling your success to help others.

With Selenity’s growth we’ve been able to invest more time and money into our activities with an emphasis on local charities, sport and local education. The most rewarding aspect is not just seeing the impact on those that we are helping and supporting, but how these activities make Selenity what it is today."

NCS (National Citizens Service)

Open to all 15-17 year-olds in England and Northern Ireland, NCS helps to build skills for work and life, whilst they take on new challenges and meet new friends.

Every year we support local social action projects, visiting and supporting the young people who are really making a difference. Projects include improving the appearance of local parks and bowls club.

"You're Hired!"

The time between finishing school, college or university and finding a job can be really daunting. We try to help and support young people through work experience placements, talks, workshops and internships to make that transition into the work place a little easier.

We've put together some hints and tips on what employers look for and how to get ahead when applying for jobs.

Back to school!

Engaging with local schools is one of our passions. It's all about preparing students for the world of work! Our frequent visits to local schools gives insight into possible career paths, the skills that they need and how they can make a good first impression.

Of course it's not just about us talking and many of the sessions are all about getting the students involved. Our latest session had students giving their 'elevator pitch'; selling their strengths in 60 seconds.

We have also been awarded “Investors in Education” a Lincolnshire and Rutland Education Business Partnership (EBP) Award for  our outstanding commitment to supporting local schools and providing high quality work experience placements.

Being Career Ready

Career Ready is a UK wide charity linking employers with schools and colleges to open up the world of work to young people.

Our colleagues Anthony Bosch and Anthony Sherwin are part of this exciting mentor scheme. They help support students, sharing their personal experiences and career knowledge to help them take the next steps to university or the world of work. Help writing CVs or university applications as well as help with studying are just a selection of ways that they help mentor their students.

Love of cars

Every year Neil Everatt and a group of colleagues and volunteers take to the road in their exciting and 'noisy cars' to visit the students at St Francis School. The school educates young people with a wide range of physical conditions, including those with associated sensory or cognitive difficulties. It's an enriching opportunity for them to look at the cars and hear their loud engines.

The delight on the student's faces just makes it worthwhile. They are always excited to share their pictures and experiences with friends on social media!

Rugby's where it all began

North Hykeham Rubgy Club is close to our hearts. Our CEO, Neil Everatt, met the founder of Software Europe through playing at the rugby club. A relationship was formed and the rest is history. As well as the club providing the foundation of where Selenity is today, we have colleagues who still play for the team.

The club have a real strong community spirit and create an environment where people and thier families thrive. We take great pride in sponsoring the club and supporting their success.

Inspiring innovation

Selenity participate in a panel for the University of Lincoln’s School of Computer Science end of year projects.

Last year members of our Software Development team joined other companies in viewing project demonstrations from second year, third year and post graduate students. It was inspiring to see the innovation, creativity and technical skills clearly on display, something that is set deep within our ethos and values.
